Stanwick Lakes Platforms

Aug 15, 2017

In March 2016 Dave Mackay, Ranger at Rockingham Forest Trust’s Stanwick Lakes site contacted Filcris to provide a quote for material to build two replacement platforms each 12m x 2.4m. The timber ones they had originally installed had started to rot and needed replacement before becoming unsafe, because the site received so many visitors. Following a site visit Filcris were able to recommend a list of suitable products, provide drawings and a quote including delivery. Rockingham Forest Trust were happy with the quote and the lead time and went ahead with the order for delivery in early May.

“We did not have a fork lift available and there was a lot of material to unload so Filcris arranged for the goods to be delivered on a truck with a HIAB, which was very helpful.” Said Dave. “The delivery was well organised and the goods were delivered bang on time allowing our team of volunteers to get cracking on the installation straight away. The material itself was top quality it looked great and was very robust indeed. Chris from Filcris had helpfully provided some drawings for us to work from although in the end we made a few changes to the design as we went along. The material was easy to work with so such changes were pretty straight forward

“The installation itself went smoothly and the volunteers quickly got to grips with the material, so it only took us a about a week to get the platforms put in”

Since they have been put in both platforms have been in constant use by school parties and holiday clubs. “They have been a great success”, said Dave “and the best thing is we will only need to do it once, and the maintenance will now be minimal.”
