Model Number: TERNMP1
Modification of our standard Tern Raft. 1.2m x 2.4m x 200mm polystyrene floatation layer encapsulated in tough 6mm and 9mm thick recycled plastic sheet with a gravel tray on the top. The unit is screwed together with stainless steel screws. The raft is supplied with temporary wooden bearers for manoeuvering.
The raft has stiffening vertical supports and cross members which help to prevent gravel from moving around too much due to the rocking action of the waves, since the gravel pits and reservoirs where these rafts are often used are often surprisingly choppy!
To prevent attacks by mink, 400mm tall sides made of 4mm thick clear polycarbonate have been added. These also allow the chicks to still be seen. These are now removable, so they can be replaced if needed and to allow the rafts to be stacked, making them easier and cheaper to ship. Up to 4 rafts can be loaded onto a single pallet
Used successfully by the Royal Parks Agency at Richmond Park, Thames Water, Wildlife Trusts, and the RSPB among others.
